Basman has been in education for over 22 years. She began her career in north London, comprehensive and independent schools both as an English teacher and Head of English. She was then appointed as the English Consultant for the National Strategy, where she led the delivery of the English curriculum in 13 London, secondary schools. Basman moved to Cairo in 2004, as Head of English, at The British International School, Cairo. Since 2006, Basman has held senior leadership positions in British, international school, including Deputy Head of the Senior School and more recently Vice Principal. Basman has expertise in, and is passionate about, improving the quality of learning and teaching through effective teacher and leadership development, raising achievement, strategic planning and leadership for learning. She is committed to always putting the student first and securing an outstanding, holistic educational experience for all learners. Basman is an experienced facilitator and delivers leadership programmes to international schools. She is also an experienced ISI inspector. She has delivered lectures and workshops at national conferences, and published articles on teaching and learning. She is an avid reader and enjoys travelling with her husband, Andrew and son, Keon.
