Primary Idol

The Primary School was buzzing with BSKL Idol last week.
Wednesday, November 1, 2017
We were blown away by performances from young musicians, singers, dancers, magicians, gymnasts, actors, comedians, scientists and even a ventriloquist and a DJ! It is always a pleasure to witness so many children willing to ‘have a go’; this is the BSKL way and all are proud of everyone for putting themselves forward.

After much soul searching, ‘Golden Tickets’ were handed out to twelve lucky acts. At the eagerly anticipated Primary Idol Final, the audience was thoroughly entertained by Antara’s delightful Indian classical dance, Krisha’s mesmerising ballet performance, Riu’s powerful karate demonstration and Imani’s impressive gymnastics skills.

Shreya and Sid Ney blew everyone away with their performance of Part of Your World from the Little Mermaid. Caitlin brought tears to our eyes with 1 her version of How Does a Moment Last Forever . The audience started singing along to Janette and Ke Yi’s  brilliant piano and drums arrangement of Charlie Puth’s Attention and Idries’ fabulous rendition of One Call Away . Marika impressed everyone with her Mozart piano sonata, while Eileen sang a moving arrangement of a Korean song. Naiema’s emotional delivery of Sia’s Elastic Heart was followed by a dazzling performance by last year’s winner, Andrea , with her rhythmic gymnastics. With an amazing array of talent on show, the five judges (Mr and Mrs Allday, Mr Aaron, Ms Winser and Yu Ying) had the unenviable task of selecting an overall winner.

However, it was Jyn Yi, with her brilliant Phantom of the Opera violin solo, who won over the judges in the end. Many congratulations to everyone who participated and a big thank you to parents for your support.
